What to Eat When You Have an Ulcer

Choosing the right foods to eat becomes even more important when you're suffering from a stomach ulcer. Eating the wrong foods can aggravate your stomach and cause you to have even more pain. While many foods will have to be avoided, there are also many healthy foods that can help you to heal more quickly. Here is what to eat when you have an ulcer.

Blueberries

Easy to digest foods that are rich in antioxidants are a perfect choice for anyone suffering from an ulcer. Blueberries aren't very filling, but make a great nutritious snack. In addition to antioxidants, they'll provide your body with fiber and manganese.

Whole Grains

Whole grains are rich in fiber, which makes them an excellent thing to eat when you're suffering from a stomach ulcer. Be sure to choose a seedless bread, as seeded bread can irritate your stomach further.

Kale

Dark leafy greens like kale will provide your body with plenty of B vitamins, which are very important to eat when you have a stomach ulcer. Kale is also a good source of vitamin A, vitamin C and manganese.

Salmon

A filling food like salmon that is also rich in omega-3 fatty acids is an ideal food choice when you have an ulcer. Be sure to cook the salmon with a healthy oil such as olive oil rather than something that could irritate your stomach.

Avocado

Not only does avocado contain an incredible amount of fiber, but it is also very soft, which makes it much easier for a sensitive stomach to digest. A great way to get some avocado in your meals is to eat it on a sandwich with some whole grain bread. It also tastes great with salmon.

Vegetable Juice

Vegetable juice will be very easy on your stomach when you have an ulcer. Choosing vegetable rich in antioxidants like carrots or veggies high in fiber such as edamame, eggplant, cabbage or beets will also help your body to recover much more quickly.
